We are God’s handiwork, being fashioned into His instruments, in which we thrive as we see God’s work manifested around us,

- A clay pot modeled by the potter is a process, trimming away unnecessary pieces, smoothing some areas and carving decorative designs in others, and then firing. At times being God’s son or daughter may seem painful. It may seem like we are breaking. God is the Potter, and we are the clay (Jeremiah 18:6). God has a way of getting our attention and letting us know where we need to change, with Scripture. “My son, pay attention to what I say;…More
- My name is Elizabeth Sulungaine, and my hope in writing this blog is to share my experiences of raising kids with a different skin tone than mine, and loving who God made us to be .The audience of this blog is geared specifically toward Caucasians like myself, who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior. I am writing out of my family’s experiences living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where my husband, my children, and I are of different skin tones, though we identify ourselves first as Christians. I love that God chose to use clay and soil as how He formed Adam, and how woman was created from Adam’s rib. The Lord “formed a man from the dust of the ground” (Genesis 2:7). I love that soil can have many different shades, just like our skin color has many different tones.
We are God’s handiwork, masterpieces of His, and reflect His glory when we follow Him. Jeremiah 18:6 says “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel”. Isaiah 64:8 “Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand”. Job 33:6 “I am the same as you in God’s sight; I too am a piece of clay”. Romans 9:20-21 “But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? ‘Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’ Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?”.
As good as God made us, we are also breakable, and need His strength and the strength God has designed the church to be for His people. 2 Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us”. Honor God by accepting the way He is molding you, and perfectly making a beautiful jar out of something that is imperfect. To be molded by God, it is important to read the scripture, honor what He has instructed us, and to be part of a church and a body of believers so that one can grow in their faith.
